Page A10 - Electric Soul Pandemic ‘Improvisation is a huge element’ in electronic jam band from N.C.

BY TOM NETHERLAND

Take Stevie Wonder’s funk. Add Pink Floyd’s atmospherics. Flavor with jazz here, reggae there stir it up in a late 1970s discotheque.

Thereby swirls the sound of Greensboro, N.C.’s Electric Soul Pandemic. The electronic jam band will encamp at O’Mainnin’s in Bristol, Tenn. on Jan. 24. The far-out funksters rock improvisation that’s apt to go “Star Trek” on the assemblage — to go where no one has gone before.

New Year's Eve 2013-2014 plans announced!

Electric Soul Pandemic is pleased to announce we will team up with our longtime, hometown friends, the Mantras, for the pair's, believe it or not, first ever club/indoor/co-bill date. The much anticipated union will join forces to celebrate the culmination of 2013 and the beginnings of a new year, 2014, at our hometown hometurf playground, Greensboro's the Blind Tiger. This will also mark ESP's first ever hometown New Year's show. ESP's NYE shows have been in Charlotte the past 2 years, and needless to say, we are alarmingly excited about this show. A lot of other people are too.
